Travel

If you are planning on flying, there are two airports within an hour that will be able to accommodate your travel plans. Watertown, SD has service operating to and from Pierre, SD and Denver, CO through Aerodynamic, Inc. and is very reasonably priced. The Sioux Falls airport is a larger airport with a much more comprehensive flying schedule and has an Enterprise Rent-a-Car service on site.

If you are driving from the south, drive north on I-29 and take South Dakota exit 132 or 134 in Brookings. The university is about 1 mile to the left of the exit. If you are driving from the north, drive south on I-29 and take South Dakota exit 134 or 132 in Brookings. The university is about 1 mile to the right of the exit. If you are driving from the east, you can take I-90 West until you reach I-29 junction in Sioux Falls and head north. Use the same exits as listed above to get to SDSU. Coming from northern and central Minnesota, Brookings has State Route 14 that runs directly west into Brookings from central Minnesota. If you are driving from the west, it is recommended to use I-90 East and turn north when you reach the I-29 junction in Sioux Falls. Head north on I-29 until you reach Exit 132 or Exit 134. Once you arrive in Brookings most of the city’s hotels are all located right off of exit 132 and are easily accessible via the interstate.
